The United States Postal Service has unveiled a new Diwali Forever stamp for 2026, offering a fresh tribute to one of the most widely celebrated festivals in the Indian diaspora and beyond. Announced in Washington as part of USPS’s 2026 stamp program, the design features a vibrant rangoli motif, echoing the colourful floor art that adorns homes and temples during the festival of lights.

The new issue builds on the success of the original Diwali Forever stamp, first released in 2016 after years of advocacy from Indian American community leaders who sought formal recognition of the festival in US philately. As a Forever stamp, the 2026 Diwali issue will always carry the current first class postage rate, allowing it to be used for one ounce letters even if prices rise in the future.

USPS officials said the stamp is part of a broader effort to reflect the nation’s cultural diversity through its commemorative program, which in 2026 will also spotlight icons, historic milestones and other major religious and cultural holidays. The Diwali release is expected to be popular not only with collectors but also with families, businesses and community organizations who use the stamp on festive mailings, invitations and greeting cards each autumn.
