Padma Lakshmi’s upcoming comedy fundraiser for abortion rights has sold out ahead of its June 17 show in Brooklyn, signaling strong public support for reproductive health initiatives.
The event, set at The Bell House, will benefit the National Network of Abortion Funds, which helps people access abortion care across the United States. The lineup features prominent comedians and actors including Hasan Minhaj, Michelle Buteau, Brett Goldstein, Larry Owens, Reeezy, and Sydnee Washington. Jay Jurden will co host alongside Lakshmi, with additional surprise guests expected.
Lakshmi, a television host and activist known for Top Chef and Taste the Nation, has organized similar events in recent years. These fundraisers have become a key part of her advocacy for women’s health and civil rights.
Beyond entertainment, Lakshmi has taken an active role in public discourse on immigration and reproductive rights. She is also a co founder of the Endometriosis Foundation of America.
The sold out event comes as abortion rights groups continue to mobilize resources nationwide following the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision that ended federal protections for abortion access.
