Pleasanton has broken ground on an $11 million sports field and track project at Hart Middle School, a major upgrade funded by a 2024 voter-approved bond measure.
The project will add a new synthetic turf athletic field, a 400-meter all-weather running track, and natural grass fields designed to support football, soccer, lacrosse, cricket and physical education classes. It will also include field event areas for long jump, triple jump and high jump, improved walkways and gates, better site circulation, and shade trees with low-maintenance landscaping; the Hart Middle School logo will be integrated into the field design.
“This is a truly transformative project for Hart Middle School,” Principal Caroline Fields said, noting it will support athletics, PE and school events year-round while reflecting the perseverance and teamwork of the “Huskies” community. Fields joined Superintendent Maurice Ghysels, Pleasanton Unified School District trustees, district leaders, city officials and the Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee at Tuesday’s groundbreaking ceremony. The new complex is expected to be completed in the fall.
