India produced a dominant performance against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup, securing a comprehensive 96-run victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. A powerful batting display followed by disciplined bowling helped India outclass the visitors in all departments.
After losing the toss, India were put in to bat first and posted a massive total of 255/5 in 20 overs. The Indian batting lineup looked in excellent form throughout the innings.
Sanju Samson led the charge with a brilliant 89 runs off 46 balls, anchoring the innings and playing several attacking shots around the ground. He received strong support from Ishan Kishan, who smashed 54 runs off 25 deliveries, and Abhishek Sharma, who added a quick 52 runs from just 21 balls, accelerating the scoring in the middle overs.
For New Zealand, James Neesham was the most successful bowler, claiming 3 wickets for 46 runs. Rachin Ravindra picked up one wicket, while Matt Henry also managed to take a wicket, though the bowlers struggled to control India’s aggressive batting lineup.
Chasing a daunting target of 256 runs, New Zealand failed to build strong partnerships and were eventually bowled out for 159 runs in 19 overs.
Tim Seifert played a fighting knock of 52 runs off 26 balls, while Mitchell Santner contributed 43 runs from 35 deliveries. Daryl Mitchell added 17 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup could not withstand India’s disciplined bowling attack.
