Immigration attorney and community advocate Gopal Krishan has entered the race for Alameda County District Attorney, promising a tougher, “non‑negotiable” approach to public safety while pledging to restore trust in the justice system.
Krishan, who has practiced law for more than a decade in the Bay Area, says his campaign is rooted in three priorities: holding repeat and violent offenders accountable, expanding support for victims, and rebuilding collaboration between the DA’s office, law enforcement and local communities. Branding his bid “Gopal for DA 2026,” he presents himself as an outsider to the political establishment, arguing that residents are frustrated with rising crime and inconsistent prosecution decisions.
The first‑time candidate has been courting immigrants, working‑class and small‑business voters, stressing his own experience representing families in immigration and family‑law matters and framing safety as a prerequisite for social justice. His campaign says it will focus on neighborhood outreach events across Alameda County in the coming months as the crowded DA field heads toward the 2026 election.
