We believe that every individual is empowered to age with dignity and independence. Our mission is to relentlessly pursue quality of life and quality of care for older adults and their families.

On Lok began in 1971 with an idea: Traditional models of care in San Francisco were not meeting the needs of the elderly. Seniors wanted to age at home, but they needed services to maintain their independence. Dr. William L. Gee and social worker Marie-Louise Ansak joined forces to create a program that would enable older adults to continue living in their community. Propelled by their drive and vision, On Lok founded the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE).

On Lok is a community-based organization in the San Francisco Bay Area that offers programs to help seniors stay healthy, active, and socially connected. This includes On Lok PACE full-service healthcare, On Lok 30th Street Senior Center, our LGBTQ program, and other senior activities, day programs and services.
