Natya Shubam, meaning auspicious dance, signifies the very essence of Bharatanatyam, an ancient dance form that originated in the temples of Tamil Nadu, India. It is the embodiment of music in visual form, a ceremony, and an act of devotion. Natya Shubam Dance Academy was established by Subhashini Rajagopal. Our academy works to teach and promote Bharatanatyam. Students are taught through a structured learning curriculum with regular stage performances. We are also actively engaged in the dance community, both local and international, fostering a love and appreciation for the art. Our mission is to develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts, through education and exploration. Natya Shubam imparts our core values to all our students – humility, persistence, collaboration, dedication, and a desire to be the best one can be. Our objectives are to Instill and advance a love for Bharatanatyam regardless of age, gender or dance level, Create and maintain a learning environment that is collaborative, supporting and rewarding Innovate and progress the art through our productions and choreographies, Foster a deep appreciation for Indian tradition, culture, as well as values, as we bridge over into modern times, Enhance focus, strength, and self-expression through practice and mastery of the art.
